To celebrate Monkey Business' sixth volume release, authors Mieko Kawakami and Hideo Furukawa joined to read, perform, and address questions. Along with the authors, four editor/translators, Motoyuki Shibata, Ted Goossen, Hitomi Yoshio, and Roland Kelts helped make the event a fun and memorable experience. Monkey Business is the most up to date publication featuring Japanese literature translated into English today. The brain child of Motoyuki Shibata and Ted Goossen, Monkey Business is a flipped publication of Tokyo based ‘Monkey Business’ a Japanese publication that translates contemporary English literature into Japanese and includes translators as illustrious as Murakami Haruki and of course, Motoyuki Shibata.

紀伊國屋書店ニューヨーク店で行われた、『モンキービジネス vol.6』発売記念トークイベントです。最新刊『モンキービジネス vol.6』発売を記念して行われました。
著者の川上未映子さんと古川日出男さんがイベントに参加し、『モンキービジネス』の朗読に取り組みました。また、翻訳家・柴田元幸さん、編集者・Ted Goossenさん、ヨシノ・ヒトミさん、Roland Kelts さんも参加し、イベントを盛り上げました
『モンキービジネス』は、柴田元幸さん責任編集にて東京で出版された文芸誌で、柴田さんとTed Goossenさんの編集により英語版が発売されました。柴田さんはもちろんのこと、村上春樹さんの作品をはじめとする現代日本文学作品が収録されています。これまで日本語版に掲載された中から選ばれた内容が英訳されています。
