ロックの名曲「ザ・ウェイト」などで知られるザ・バンドのリヴォン・ヘルム（ドラムス、ボーカル）が4月19日、ニューヨークで死去した。
ローリングストーン誌が報じた。71歳だった。
軋轢があると伝えられていた元ザ・バンドのロビー・ロバートソンはリヴォンを見舞ったことをフェイスブックで明らかにし、「リヴォンは私が知っている中で最も優れた才能の持ち主の一人で、兄のような存在だった。最後に一目会えて感謝している。これからもずっと彼を思い続けるだろう」とのコメントを掲載した。
