Longpi if famous for old age pottery making style, it also pronounced Longpi Ham by local peoples and well known as Hampai pottery. Hampai pottery is believed that this pottery used like the major cooking utensil among the Tangkhuls peoples before the existence of aluminum and other alloy pots. Longpi ham are one of those who has attained national as well as international popularity. Longpi is unique because potters don’t use potter’s wheel to shape it whole of the shaping is done by hands still they are fine by look and shape.Basically longpi is made from a mixture of ground black seroebtubute stone’s paste and epic brown clay. As locals say, the clay could be found only in Longpi Village.After all when the pots are shaped, polished and dried under sun they are heated in fire and after that doing polish job with a unique tree’s leaf called Chiron ni.
