1995年アルバム『History』の2ndシングル/監督:スパイク・リー
▪︎「マイケルの命懸けの闘争曲」

この曲が収録されたアルバム『History』のこの曲に於いて、
歌詞に"×××人の暴力"を示唆する歌詞が存在した。

しかし、アルバムリリース直後、歌詞を知った×××系のスピルバーグ監督がマイケルへ怒号の電話を掛ける。
NYの×××人権団体も「×××差別だ」と非難声明を出した。
それによりマイケルは謝罪。歌詞を修正、再録するして再発する事態になった。
2ndロットでは該当箇所が変更された。(よって2バージョンが存在する)当時、世界的なニュースになった。

マイケルが4年間、練りに練った歌詞は即、潰された。
マイケルの死後リークされたノートには"エネミーリスト"が書かれており、
そこにはスピルバーグ監督の名が記されていた。
2人は友人だったが、マイケルは弾圧を受けたことで絶縁していた。

(その事件以後も、マイケルへ圧力があった可能性があり、2000年のアルバム『Invincible』では『History』の大半を占めていた"これ関連"の曲は無くなった)

当時、マイケルは曲やビデオで世界の現実・事実を歌っていたが、世界のリスナーに意味が伝わっていたとは言い難い。皆が知らない時代だった。

しかし、30年経過した現在、多くのリスナーが
マイケルが籠めた歌詞の真意を理解している。
この曲はSNSでバズり、マイケル再評価が起きている。

他、アルバム『History』内には他にも
"Money""Scream""Tabloid Junkie"
"This Time Around""D.S""History"などの曲で
世界の支配層を(実名を出し)痛烈に攻撃している。

彼は命を懸けていたと思う。
