欧州委員会の広報担当者は、執行機関は「来年に人間レベルのAIを予測しているわけではない」が、むしろ「進歩が古い予測が示唆していたよりも速く進んでいる」ことを認識していると回答した。「責任ある計画とは未来を推測することではなく、さまざまなシナリオに備えることである」と広報担当者は付け加えた。[1][2]
この論争は、フォン・デア・ライエン氏が2023年にテクノロジー企業に行動規範を求めるなど、AI安全対策も推進してきた中で浮上している。10月には、AI分野の先駆者であるジェフリー・ヒントン氏を含む数百人の著名人が、AI超知能の開発禁止を求める別の請願書に署名した。[3][4]
