1999年の初出店以来、「食べるスープ」の専門店として女性を中心に人気を集め、首都圏を中心にを中心に現在は50店舗以上を展開するSoup StockTokyo。都会の中心で「スープを飲んでほっとしていただくような場所」を提供する同店は、素材を生かし、手間暇をかけたレシピで一躍評判を集めました。昨年刊行されたレシピ本『Soup Stock Tokyoのスープの作り方』も好評を博し、今年10月には続編も出版されたばかりです。
その創業者である遠山正道氏は、株式会社スマイルズの代表取締役社長として、ネクタイ専門ブランド「giraffe」、リサイクルショップ「PASS THE BATON」など、数々の新事業を手がけています。これらの新たなサービスの根底には、どんなきっかけで出発し、どのような思いが秘められているのでしょうか。
対談相手は最注目の若手建築家・藤村龍至氏。新著『リアル・アノニマスデザイン』（岡田栄造氏、山崎泰寛氏との共編著）では、誰が設計したのかわからない、長い時間をかけた自然淘汰の末に生まれてきたデザイン＝「アノニマスデザイン」を再評価し、人々の意思が可視化されたネット時代にデザイナーの役割はどのようにあるべきかを問うています。
ますます都市への一極集中が進み、生活の速度が速まるなかで、どのようなサービスが求められ、それはどのように可能になるのか。「デザイン」「物語」「編集」の3つのキーワードをもとに、新たな可能性を探ります。

1962年東京都生まれ。慶應義塾大学商学部卒業後、85年三菱商事株式会社入社。97年日本ケンタッキー・フライド・チキン株式会社出向を経て、99年に「Soup Stock Tokyo」第１号店をお台場ヴィーナスフォートにオープン。2000年三菱商事初の社内ベンチャー企業、株式会社スマイルズを設立、代表取締役社長に就任。2008年MBOによりスマイルズの株式100%を取得。
現在、食べるスープの専門店「Soup Stock Tokyo（スープ ストック トーキョー）」、ネクタイの専門ブランド「giraffe（ジラフ）」、新しいリサイクルショップ「PASS THE BATON（パス ザ バトン）」、ファッションブランド「my panda（マイ パンダ）」を展開。近著に「成功することを決めた」（新潮社）がある。
藤村龍至（ふじむら・りゅうじ）
1976年生まれ。藤村龍至建築設計事務所主宰。
東洋大学専任講師。2007年よりフリーペーパー『ROUND ABOUT JOURNAL』企画・制作・発行。
主な建築作品に「BUILDING K」（2008）、「東京郊外の家」（2009）、「倉庫の家」（2011）、「小屋の家」（2011）など。
