学術誌 Nature Climate Change に掲載された研究よると9種の動物の民ー深海魚、クジラ、サメ、ラッコ、ハイロオオカミ、ヌー、ジャコウウシ、アフリカマルミミゾウ、アメリカバイソンの民は非常に多くの二酸化炭素を除去しています

　AIIBの投資運用部の主席投資責任者スティーヴン・シン氏は、｢アジア気候ボンドポートフォリオ（Asia Climate Bond Portfolio：ACBP）｣と呼ばれる気候変動対策融資プロジェクトについて明らかにした。

　「私が率いる気候変動対策融資関連のプロジェクト『アジア気候ボンドポートフォリオ』は、資本市場における気候関連ファイナンスの促進支援を目標としている。AIIBは、5億ドルを世界のAIIB加盟各国に投資する。このポートフォリオが購入する債権は約40～50になる予定だ。この債権は『気候チャンピオン』と呼ぶ特徴を有する、つまりパリ協定で提案された『適応・緩和・耐久性』の3分野で優れた業績をあげた企業だ」
　スティーヴン・シン氏によると、ポートフォリオは企業を格付けし2つのリストに分ける。「リストA」に入った企業は気候変動対策に優れているとみなされ、AIIBの資金提供を受ける可能性が高くなる。
　こうしたリスト化は、企業のグリーン発展モデルの採用を促進するだろうとしている。

　「時間がかかる方法だが、資本市場において気候変動や関連ファイナンスが必要としているのは、真の透明性と誰が実際に正しく実行しているのかということだ。パリ協定は2015年に正式発効したばかりなので、人々が協力構造を理解し適用する時間は十分ではなかった。リストを作成することで、より多くの企業が後ろに続くことになると思う。時間はかかるが、最終目標は達成できるだろう」
　新型コロナウイルスの影響を受け、AIIBスタッフもオンライン勤務が常態化し、テレビ会議も多くなっているが、プロジェクトのチェックのためには現場に立ち会わなければならない作業もある。シン氏は、AIIBには2つの協力体制があるとした。

　「まず1つ目は、世界銀行やアジア開発銀行（ADB）など既存の同じ様な多国間国際金融機関の協力だ。新型コロナウイルス関連融資はかなり進展し、ここ数ヶ月で承認された金額は約70億ドルに達した。そのほとんどはADBや世界銀行との共同出資によるもので1つの保証になっている。我々はグループとして新型コロナとの戦いに寄与している」
　シン氏は「もうひとつの協力は加盟国の開発銀行との協力を強化すること」だと述べた。
