水の音が部屋を満たしていた。
それはシャワーの音ではなかった。ネイトの頭の中で、いつまでも流れ続ける“雨”の記憶。
戦場の泥と、焦げた鉄と、少女の泣き声が混ざっていた。
ネイト（両手で顔を覆いながら）
「やめろ……やめてくれ、俺は……っ」
シャワールームの中、ネイトは全身を叩くように熱湯を浴び続けていた。
皮膚が真っ赤に染まっても、彼は動こうとしなかった。
ネイト（うわごとのように）
「“あたしを見てよ”…“あたしを愛して”……なんで今になって……」
その声は確かに彼の記憶の中にいた。
雨宮 紫苑――
かつてどこかで出会ったはずの名。
だが公式記録には一切存在しない。
サンクチュアリの誰も、彼女のことを知らない。
でもネイトは知っている。あの“雨”の中で、泣いていた少女を。
その記憶に引きずられ、ネイトはシャワールームのガラスを拳で割った。
流血。警報。
駆けつけた者たちにより拘束され、深夜の騒動となった。
翌朝、仮設シェルター内・記録官の報告
「カークランド軍曹は精神不安定状態にあり、昨夜のシャワールームにて暴走。
本人は『雨宮紫苑』という存在について繰り返し言及するが、該当する人物はCITにもVault-Tecにも記録なし。」
そしてその翌日、ノーラが戻った。
無言でゲートをくぐる“ノーラ”に、人々は一瞬目を見張る。
だが、どこか違う――
無意識に距離を取る者、視線を逸らす者、言葉を失う者。
目撃者の証言（抜粋）
「あの人……ノーラさんじゃない気がするんです」
「目が、まるで別のものを見てるようだった」
「帰ってきたはずなのに……帰ってきてない気がして……」
「あの夜から、夢に“誰か”が出てくるようになって……」
ノーラ不振――
その影は確実に広がっていた。
“彼女”が戻ったことで、かえってネイトは再び“紫苑”の記憶と直面することになる。
