【教材映画】アメリカ空軍の空手訓練(1950～60年代？)
ようつべより輸入。 陸軍や海兵隊は分かるが、なぜ空軍で空手…？と思って少し調べたところ、空軍でも戦略航空軍団(SAC)は非常に日本武術の導入に積極的で、1950年代から毎年、選抜兵士を東京に派遣して空手、柔道、合気道、警視庁逮捕術などを研修させ、ネブラスカ州オマハの司令部にも日本から武道家を招聘したとのこと。 SACはアメリカ空軍の戦略爆撃機や核爆弾、核ミサイルを一手に運用する部隊だったので、セキュリティ能力向上の一環で兵士(特に憲兵)の武術訓練が奨励されていたのかも知れない。 (ただ、このフィルムでは、日本でもまだ自由組手が今ほど普及・発展していなかった時代の空手を、更に本職の武道家でないアメリカ兵が訓練した為か、動きはあまり「こなれて」ないような…)
