Molly Haskell, author and widely regarded critic of film and theater (The Village Voice, New York Magazine and Vogue among others), spoke at New York Kinokuniya Bookstore on February 11, 2017 about her newly released biography on Steven Spielberg,Steven Spielberg: A Life in Films. Haskell’s biography is a critical take on Spielberg’s work (and clearly not all-inclusive as he is still working) with clear admiration for his great ability as a filmmaker but with some reservation on how he is regarded by some fans as the penultimate icon of film and video production and perhaps missing what, in her view, is his true artistic contribution. Signed copies were still available at the time of this posting.

New York Kinokuniya Bookstore was honored to host Anne Ishii along with celebrity designer, Chip Kidd as they talked about "Massive", their anthology of erotic gay manga works by artists in Japan including Gengoroh Tagame, Takashi Matsu, Fumi Miyabi, Inu Yoshi, Gai Mizuki and comic essayist Kumada Poohsuke. The book is also important for the timeline included which gives a clear delineation of the history of the development of gay manga in Japan. In this clip, Anne Ishii and Chip Kidd discuss how they got into the project, how it developed and the unique characteristics of their audience. Comics and Graphic Novel buyer, Terence Irvins of Kinokuniya is the moderator.

In this clip from his appearance he draws a caricature of the Greek Goddess, Athena. Athena is the Goddess in opposition to Ares in this latest graphic novel "Ares: Bringer of War" from the Olympians series. She is also known for her involvement in war among humans, thus gaining one of her titles: "Goddess of War" or as George describes more accurately, "The Goddess of Strategic War".
