まず大前提として、特に日本では「iPhoneの方が優れたスマートフォンである」という認識が非常に強く根付いている。
そして残念ながら、多くの側面において、その認識は事実であると言わざるを得ない。iPhoneは価格が高い分、細部に至るまで様々な配慮がなされ、丁寧に作られているからだ。
その優位性を構成する要素は多岐にわたるが、何と言っても最も大きな要因は「デザイン」にある。反対に、多くのAndroidスマホはデザイン的に洗練されているとは言い難い。
スマホの形状的に大きなバリエーションはない。だが、その限られた制約の中でも、iPhoneが持つ全体のバランスの良さ、ミニマルで美しい佇まいは、非常に巧みで、完成度の高いプロダクトだと感心させられる。（続く）
