今年の夏は40℃超えの日が当り前のように続いています。 都市部以外は、窓を開けて風を通せば、暑くても過ごせるのが、今までの夏の日でした。 ところが、今は全く別の話です。 炎天下だけでなくエアコンを掛けなければ、部屋の中でも40℃に近い温度になります。 「気温40度」の話です。

気温が40℃を超えると、人体や環境にさまざまな影響が及びますね。それでは、具体的に見てみましょう。
**人体への影響**:
- **熱中症リスクの増加**: 体温である約37℃を優に超える「体温超え」の日は、熱中症へのリスクが急激に高まります¹。特に子供や高齢者は体温調節の機能が弱いため、注意が必要です。
- **湿度との相乗効果**: 湿度の高い日本では、汗がうまく蒸発せず、効率的に熱を逃すことができません。このため、暑さ指数（WBGT）を参考に、屋外の活動を減らすことや、室内でもエアコンを利用することが重要です¹。
**環境への影響**:
- **農作物への悪影響**: 40℃以上の高温に長時間さらされると、農作物の葉や茎、果実などの部位が枯れたり、萎れたりすることがあります。これは光合成や呼吸などの生理活動が正常に行えなくなるためです²。
- **乾燥と水不足**: 高温によって発生する乾燥や水不足も、農作物にとって大きなストレスとなります。
