今回から Art in Making: Italian Painting Before 1400 の講読を通して、中世絵画（板絵）の技法について学んでいきます。
この『Art in Making』シリーズはナショナル・ギャラリー（ロンドン）が所蔵作品の研究に基づいて刊行しているもので、豊富な図版つきで古典絵画の技法についての調査研究成果が掲載されています。
とりあえず今回はもっぱら支持体である板の話。当時の北部イタリアの木材事情といった、なかなか細かい歴史的背景も絡んできます。

ルネサンス以前の画家たちなので、あまり有名でない名前が多いのかもしれませんが、その辺も解説しながらやっていこうかと。
