この年のダルビッシュのフォーシームはFanGraphsのStuff+によると、1回以上投げた投手の中では744人中40位、規定投球回以上投げた投手の中では2位と僅差の3位なので、先発屈指のフォーシームと言えると思います。 ちなみにこの年のダルは単年で見る場合俺が一番好きな投手です。スライダーでカウントを稼ぎつつ、様々な球種で三振を取るのは見ててかなり楽しかったです。

英単語 “horizontal” を楽しく覚えよう!UTA-TAN Short – 英検2級レベル
20秒のショート動画で楽しく英単語が覚えられるUTA-TAN Shortシリーズ、英検2級レベルから抜粋してお送りします。
今回は “horizontal” です。形容詞として「水平の・横の」名詞として「水平であること・水平方向の位置にあるもの」という意味があります。
類義語の“level”(形容詞としては「水平の・平らな」という意味もある)との違いについては少々混乱するかも知れません。例えば、住宅等の床が水平かどうかという話題の場合には “level” が使われ、“horizontal” はほぼ使われません。
使い分けのポイントをざっとまとめると、
・縦か横か斜めか、という相対関係で表現する場合には “horizontal”
・傾いているか否か、の絶対値で表現する場合には “level”
ということになります。
これは、窓のブラインドの例を取ると分かりやすいと思います。
ブラインドのスラット(羽=横長の板状のもの)を開いて外光を取り入れる場合は “horizontal” を使い、 “open to horizontal position” などと言います。
一方、ブラインド自体を窓枠に取りつける際に水平になっているかどうかの話題では “level” を使います。
