ナチス政権下のドイツは歴史上類を見ない非人道的罪を犯したが、単に一度謝罪して当事者が訴追されればその罪から開放されるのではなく、未来永劫その責任（responsibility）を取り続ける姿勢を見せることによってのみ、自分たちの過去から解放され、国際社会の尊敬を集めることができると説いたワイツゼッカー元大統領の演説の意味を想起した時、こうして毎年のように質の高いホロコースト映画が作られ続けていることの意味を日本人としても改めて考え直してみたい。
その他、今人気公開中の『竜とそばかすの姫』、元々テレビで放送され現在Netflixで公開されている『微笑む人』を通じて、日本のアニメやドラマの現在地を確認した。
さらに今回はマル激としては初めて、韓国ドラマを取り上げた。コロナの「ステイホーム」によって自宅で映画を見る習慣が急速に広がった2020年、Netflixで人気トップ10に何と韓国ドラマが5作品もランクインした。『愛の不時着』、『梨泰院クラス』、『サイコだけど大丈夫』、『青春の記録』、『キム秘書はいったい、なぜ?』の5つだ。2021年の通年ランキングはまだ出ていないが、今年に入ってからも既に『ヴィンチェンツォ』、『わかっていても』などが大ヒットを飛ばしていてランク入りは間違いない状況だ。韓国語をマスターしていない日本人にとって韓国ドラマは字幕を読む手間もかかる。Netflix上には欧米、とりわけ今や大物俳優を惜しみなく起用するようになったハリウッド映画も数多くあがっている。もちろん日本でヒットしたテレビドラマなども多数ある。そうした中にあってなぜ韓国ドラマがこれほどまでに人気を博しているのか。
実際にこれらの作品を見てみると、単純に作品としての完成度が高いことに加え、ストーリー構成の巧みさ、一見くだらなそうに見えて誰もが思わず笑ってしまうようなギャグの挟み方の絶妙さ等々、確かに韓国ドラマのレベルは高い。問題はなぜ韓国がここまで質の高いコンテンツを提供できているのに、日本がそれに太刀打ちできる魅力的な作品を作れていないのかだ。2020年のNetflixのランキングを見ても、トップ10入りした日本の作品は「嵐」の活動を追ったプロモーショナルなドキュメンタリーとアニメ3作品と「テラスハウス」だけで、ドラマや映画は一つも圏内に入っていない。
今週の5金スペシャルではジャーナリストの神保哲生と社会学者の宮台真司が、『アウシュヴィッツ・レポート』、『竜とそばかすの姫』、『微笑む人』の3作品と、韓国ドラマ特集として『愛の不時着』、『梨泰院クラス』、『ヴィンチェンツォ』の3作品を取り上げて、それぞれの作品の評価と日本の映画やドラマの現在地について議論した。
また番組冒頭では、感染者数がこれまでの最多記録を塗りかえた新型コロナの最新状況と五輪の関係、基準さえ曖昧な「感染者数」のみを発表し続け、これに一喜一憂するメディアの愚、「緊急事態宣言が出ても感染者が減らない以上、政府に強制力のある権限を与えるべき」とする主張の欺瞞などについても議論した。
