無回転シュートは、実際には完全なゼロ回転ではなく、非常に回転の少ない「低回転球」です。低回転で一定の速度条件を満たすと、ボール後方の流れや大規模な渦構造が不安定に動き、横向きや上下方向の空気力が時間とともに変化します。その小さなずれが飛行中に蓄積することで、ゴールキーパーにはボールが途中から突然揺れたように見えます。
