TAS SNES BS Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero (JPN) in 12:48.17
by Thomas Robson (aka. TheRandomPie_IV). from TASvideo.org This is a game based on the completely "unique" concept of an evil boss trying to take over/destroy/do whatever with the world, and despite the Earth being filled with about 7 billion occupants, you are the only one who can stop it. At first glance it may seem odd that, although the game is two player, only one player is used, and that's Player 2. Player 2 was chosen because her aerial attack gives an enormous speed boost. It is also one of the few attacks in video games that operates on frame precision, so smashing out a 30Hz rapid-fire on the controller will lay the beatdown pretty quickly. That, combined with the fact that half the enemies in this game are of the standard "walk around and shoot" variety, allow the heroine to zip through the game with total reckless abandon. Few games allow a TASer to do that, so this is a rare opportunity indeed.
TAS SNES Battletoads in Battlemaniacs (USA) in 19:08.1
by Mário de Almeida Azevedo Junior (aka. FODA) and Nick Vatcher. from TASvideo.org This is that game that looks like a remake of the first Battletoads game. The Toads go after Silas Volkmire and Dark Queen because someone was kidnapped again... Features 2 players and aims for fastest completion time while bashing through the enemies and showing off.

TAS SNES Killer Instinct (USA v1.0) in 09:59.18
by Flávio Garcia Soares Rodrigues (aka. Dark Fulgore). from TASvideo.org Killer Instinct is a classic fighting game ported to SNES from an arcade machine. It features an advanced combo system, rich pre-rendered graphics and nicely arranged music. However, the latter two were somewhat toned down in this version compared to the original. In this movie, Spinal takes down his enemies by slicing them up, hitting them with their own abilities, and (gasp!) making them dance to music!
TAS SNES Mask, The (USA) in 06:39.8 by Johan Södling (aka. Randil).
from TASvideo.org Based loosely on the plot line of the movie by the same name. This game is about a man named Stanley Ippkiss, who finds a powerful mask known as The Mask. However evil has also become aware of this and kidnaps his girlfriend in order to obtain it. One of the traits The Mask seems to give Stanley is extreme speed, so naturally, aside from a couple boss fights, the game play is extremely fast throughout the movie. This is a 3 minute 30 second improvement over the previous movie by the use of a new shortcut in level 1, improved boss fights, and many other optimizations. The author left detailed comments about them.

TAS SNES Sparkster (USA) in 18:16.48 by Filip Roskvist (aka. Cpadolf).
from TASvideo.org Another movie that's so fast you can hardly see what's going on. The main character can use his rocket dash to inflict a lot of damage on his opponents as well as bounce off walls and ceilings. Cpadolf's movie is an incredible improvement to Nitsuja's movie, which was itself 5 minute improvement to previously published version. Cutting off 80 seconds from that TAS was certainly no easy task. Like the previous movie, this is played at the hardest difficulty, crazy hard.
TAS NES Darkwing Duck (USA) in 10:59.5
from TASvideo.org by Андрей Стребков (aka. AnS) & Johan Södling (aka. Randil). Darkwing Duck (1992) is a platformer somewhat similar to Mega Man in gameplay and difficulty. The arrow gun allows the player to climb up walls and use creative shortcuts so that the absolute shortest route can be taken. In case you are wondering why the character keeps on jumping so much, it is because he has to wait a short amount of time before being able to walk. With constant jumping these stops can be avoided. This movie is a joint venture between AnS and Randil to improve the previous Darkwing Duck run by Walker Boh, resulting in 35.7 seconds saved through means of extensive optimization, luck manipulation and lag removal. We recommend reading the authors' comments for more details.
TAS NES Battle of Olympus (USA) in 10:40.78 by Mário de Almeida Azevedo Junior (aka. FODA).
from TASvideo.orgThe Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) is set in ancient Greece. A mortal man named Orpheus receives help from the gods and nymphs in his quest to save his lover Helene from Hades. People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay. This movie is 9:11 faster than Arc's version, mostly because of the utilization of a gameplay-altering glitch: pressing Left+Right simultaneously in order to make Orpheus move with almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at Battle of Olympus Tricks.
