Jan. 27 - More than 300 pure bred dogs and their owners converged on a Bangkok shopping mall to decide which is the best trained and best groomed dog in the country.After a serious grooming session, the competitors took to the floor to strut their stuff in front of the judging panel. Each contestant fought tooth and nail to see who had what it takes to be the best trained and best groomed dog in the country. A three-year-old Bulldog named Jorge won the Best Dog of the Year award due to his "world-standard" features and "strong muscle tone". A two-year-old Pomeranian called Jackie won the Best Dog in Show award, another coveted title which is a pre-requisite for entering the Best Dog of the Year contest.

Dec. 22 - Two models launching an animal rights campaign in Bangkok gave onlookers more than they bargained for.Swedish model Patrick Ribbsaeter and Filippina Avi Siwa launched their animal rights campaign at a photo studio in Bangkok. The campaign motto "Back to Eden, Close All Zoos" was printed in English and Thai on two separate 12 X 24-inch posters which were used to cover the model's more intimate parts as they posed as Adam and Eve in a highly stylized virtual jungle paradise. 26-year-old Ribbsaeter is among Asia's heartthrobs while model Siwa is currently at an all time high with her career as a TV host and actress.People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) who sponsored the campaign said they will launch the images in several countries in Asia and Europe in protest against zoo captivity.
