世界保健機関（WHO）は4日、中国政府による新型コロナウイルス死者の定義を「非常に狭い」と批判し、同国の公式統計は実際の流行状況を反映していないと警告した。

WHOで緊急事態対応を統括するマイケル・ライアン（Michael Ryan）氏は記者会見で、「われわれは依然、完全なデータを手にしていない」と説明。「中国が公表している現在の数字は、入院や集中治療室（ICU）入室、そして特に死亡者についての真の影響を過小評価している」としました。

中国は先月、約3年にわたり続けてきた厳格なコロナ対策を突然緩和。以降、国内では病床や火葬場の受け入れ能力が逼迫しているが、政府がコロナ感染による死者の定義を大幅に狭めたことから、同月以降の公式死者数は22人にとどまっています。

ライアン氏は、中国政府がコロナ感染に伴う「呼吸器不全」で死亡した人のみを同ウイルスによる死者として集計していると指摘。「これは非常に狭い定義だ」と述べました。
