　ジョージの作品の中ではSomethingと並び愛されているバラードの名作です。彼が両親の家を訪れた際、本を開いて最初に目についた言葉をもとに曲を作ろうと決めていたところ"gently weeps" というフレーズが目に入り、その言葉からイメージを膨らませ、すぐ曲作りに取り掛かったと言います。ただしレコーディングを開始しても彼のイメージがなかなか固まらず何度もリメイクを繰り返し、ようやく１７テイク目でほぼ公式ヴァージョンに近い形になりました。その後もリメイク・オーバーダブを重ね、最終的には４４テイクも録音されています。
