イギリスおよびイングランドの国歌は一般的には"God Save the King"ですが、実は明文法の裏付けがなく、本来国歌が使われるスポーツイベントなどの場面、特に連合王国と区別しなければならないような場面で別の曲が登場することがあります。これはそんな曲のひとつです。
プログレ好きにはEL&P、あるいは映画「炎のランナー」の原題"Chariot of Fire"はこの曲の歌詞が由来など、クラシックにどとまらず知られている曲でもあります。が、クラシックとして演奏される機会は英国外ではほぼないと言っていいでしょう。
何だか知られているのかいないのかわからない曲を、これまた知られているのかよくわからない花響琴のカバーでリメイクしました。
