Prince of Persia is a platforming game that has been ported to many systems, from the original Apple II to the SAM Coupé computer. It is commonly regarded as a progenitor of the cinematic platform genre. Rather than following the more common jump-and-run mechanics, it focuses on careful advancement through fairly complex levels, emphasizing the protagonist's vulnerability and survival aspect. Rotoscoping technique is used to give more realism to the animation of the characters' movements.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is the third mainline Mario game for the NES and one of the most influential platforming games in history. While Super Mario Bros. 2 started life as an thematically unrelated game before being rebranded as a Mario game, Super Mario Bros. 3 was built from the ground up to be a direct sequel to Super Mario Bros. It takes the old established formula and adds gameplay elements that would become standard in later Mario games: a overworld level select map, completely optional bonus levels, the ability to pick up and throw items, and much more.
For this run, Brandon (https://tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/Brandon) goes for an unusual goal of beating the game while minimizing the number of button presses as much as possible, including the directional buttons. This includes saving button presses while at the title screen.

B-System (PC) - Sample
B-System is a 2D horizontal scrolling shoot em 'up, developed by little-known Sprite and originally released as shareware in 1997 for Windows PC.
While it takes elements of the classic horizontal shmups, it is very different than most. Well, the playthrough is Boss Rush type; that is, it lacks normal enemies and linear levels, there are only bosses in each stage, which must be defeated one by one.
Another peculiarity of B-System is that the design of all bosses looks like sea creatures with destructive attacks and weaponry.
It is known that it had a port for the Sharp X68000 computer, and that from version 3.0 it became freeware. It can be downloaded from the author's original web-site.

Rayman Legends is a 2D platform game and a sequel to Rayman Origins. After the events of the previous game Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies went to a century-long sleep. During that time new nightmares have appeared in the world. These nightmares and dark teensies have captured the princesses of the land and other teensies. Naturally, Rayman and his friends are awoken once again to right the wrongs.
Rayman Legends retains the graphical style and most gameplay elements of Rayman Origins. All the powers from the previous game are available to the characters from the start, but some new gimmicks are added, for example, the ability to fire projectiles on some levels. Murfy the greenbottle appears on some levels to aid the players.
The game includes regular side-scrolling levels, "invaded" versions of levels that need to be completed as quickly as possible and rhythm-based levels with humorous covers of popular songs.

OlliOlli is a 2D side-scrolling street skateboarding game with a pixel visual style. The player guides a skateboarder through different levels with many objectives to complete, such as reaching a certain score, performing a specific trick, catching air, pushing a limited amount of times, grinding specific objects, or getting certain landings. There are no enemies in the environment, so the focus is entirely on solo play performing tricks by jumping, doing spins, grabs, slides, flips, kicks, etc. The skater moves forward automatically and the player uses keys or buttons to spin left or right, jump, perform tricks, and also a key or button to control the landing. The amount of buttons is limited, but timing is important. Tricks can be linked together into combos.
There are five different environments with ten levels each. These are split up in five amateur and five pro levels, each with five objectives. Later levels have more obstacles and hazards.

Jotun is a top-down action game with a focus on exploration and based on Old Norse Mythology. Thora is a brave viking woman who died ingloriously in a shipwreck. However, the Norse Gods have given her a chance at entering Valhalla if she is able to defeat the five Jotun who dwell in different worlds, all connected by the Ginnungagap.
The viking warrior has to make her way through different levels in order to collect runes which grant her access to the boss battles. By exploring the different levels, she is also able to collect blessing from different Norse Gods as well as glimpses into Old Norse mythology. The game uses hand drawn graphics.
The Valhalla Edition of the game is the name used for the later console version of the game. It adds Valhalla Mode, a boss-rush mode with harder versions of the jotun.

A sequel in name only, this follow up to id's 1996 Quake is a first-person shooter revolving around the Earth-Strogg war. The Strogg alien race threatens the Earth, but Earth has launched a counter-offensive, Operation Alien Overlord. As a FPS, Quake II contains a variety of weapons including the fall back Blaster, the Railgun, and the secret BFG10K. Health, armor, and ammunition pick-ups can be found during levels, as can the classic Quake’s Quad Damage power-up. Game play involves mowing down alien opponents as the player progresses through levels, completing in-game objectives. Quake II also comes with multiplayer support for Deathmatches.

New with this release are the two 2-players modes : Duel and Driver Vs Police. In the Duel mode, race head to head against a friend. Final Doom for the Sony PlayStation was created by the same team at Williams Entertainment that produced the PlayStation version of Doom, reusing the same engine. It was released on October 1, 1996, including a mixture of 30 levels from the Master Levels for Doom II and the Final Doom missions TNT: Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment. (Cats are Liquid - A Light in the Shadows is a 2D platformer about a cat with the ability to transform into liquid.
The game has 90 levels, that are spread across 9 different worlds. It has a minimalistic but colorful style. Along the way the game introduces new mechanics, like flying and summoning bombs to break down walls.
The story is about a cat whose owner locked her in a set of rooms. She desperately wants to get out, but the rooms just keep continuing. Along the way the cat meets a new "friend" and gains new abilities. The story is told through small in game text pieces.)
