Teenage Engineeringから去年発売されて去年末くらいに届いた、pocket operator K.O.の進化版サンプラー「EP-133 K.O.Ⅱ」を開封しました。

PO版K.O.よりも格段に使いやすいうえ、OP-1などと比べてもワークフローがかなり明快なので、触ってすぐ楽しめる面白いサンプラーです。
サンプルを作りこんだりリサンプリングしたりする場合はSP-404などの方が強い印象ですが、
ライブ的にループを作りながらどんどん展開を作っていくみたいな作り方が好きな人、1, 2分くらいの短いループを楽しみたい人にはおすすめかもしれません。

It is much easier to use than the PO version of K.O. and has a much clearer workflow than the OP-1, etc., making it an interesting sampler that can be enjoyed immediately upon touch.
When it comes to making samples and resampling, I have the impression that the SP-404 and others are more powerful,
However, for those who like to create live loops and develop them as they go along, or for those who enjoy short loops of about 1 or 2 minutes, this might be the sampler for you.

rasteri氏が開発したオープンソース超小型スクラッチ電子楽器、SC500を、ベルリンのメーカーportablismgearが量産したものを購入したのでunboxingしました。
動画の後半では、購入目的のひとつであった、EP-133でのサンプリングのための小型プレーヤー、としての使用について試しています。
動画内だとまだまだ引き出せていないですが、スクラッチのテクニックなどを練習すればもっと本格的なプレイができそうです。
何よりめちゃくちゃ小型なのがいいです。
SC500の探究についてはまた別の動画でリベンジしたいです。

I have unboxed the SC500, an open source ultra-compact scratch electronic instrument developed by rasteri and mass-produced by portablismgear, a Berlin-based manufacturer.
In the second half of the video, I try to use it as a small player for sampling with the EP-133, which was one of the purposes of the purchase.
In the video, I can't pull it off yet, but I'm sure I can play more seriously if I practice my scratching techniques.
The best thing about it is that it is insanely small.
I'd like to revisit the exploration of the SC500 in another video.

サンプリング周りで不都合は多少ありますが、そこはSP-404もあるしね、という割り切りを感じます。

TL; DR: this is a synth-pop track about being true to yourself.

Before writing, for the last couple of days of January, I'd been listening to Pete Shelley's "Homosapien"¹, on repeat, like a deranged teenager. The idea was to overdose on a song I liked, so that the song's structure or ambience or intent would then seep -- osmosis style -- into my next creation. I'm not sure it has but I like the process.

Anyway, this track is about being true to yourself; being comfortable with your dubious decisions.

Technically, the drum sounds are from Groove Agent with some added Backbone sourced hi-hats. The various brass instruments are from NN-XT samples. Other synths from Thor and filtered, sampled sawtooth waves (NN19), stock Cubase Retrologue, Halion, Padshop in there too. Vocals are from the Vocaloid6 set -- hello, Allen and Sandra; their formant glitchiness tempered by EQ & saturation.

Although it sounds religious, it's not about religion. The phrasing may hint at this but the intent is more broad: of seeking solace in known, trusted sources, regardless of their efficacy. OK, that does sound like religion ... but it's not what I had in mind.

では、「アオリスト（aorist）」とは一体何なのか？そして、それに続く「アオリズム（Aorism）」とは？この歌詞にも、映像にも、説明文にもヒントは見つからないだろう。そして、もし調べてみたとしても、きっとがっかりすることになる。
ギターは一応弾けるけれど、ここで聴こえる音は（たぶん）キーボードで演奏されたサンプルに、合成音のデザインをちょっと加えたもの。リズムを強調するためにステップフィルターやゲートも使っている…はず。少なくとも、指が痛くなることはない。

So what is "aorist" exactly; and, thence, what is Aorism? You'll find no clues in the lyrics here, nor the video clips. Nor this description. And if you do look it up, you'll likely be disappointed. I can play guitar, after a fashion, but what you hear here (?) are samples played on a keyboard with added synthetic design nurdling, together with step filters and gates for rhythmic enhancement, hopefully. It doesn't hurt your fingers as much.
