Castlevania Chronicles is the first opportunity a majority of U.S. gamers have to play one of the few Castlevania games that was never released stateside. Originally titled Dracula X68000, the game was released in Japan on the Sharp X68000 in 1993 and harkens back to the original days of the series on the NES and MSX computer.

In addition to the Original mode, which is a port of the Sharp X68000 game, Chronicles adds an Arranged mode. This version of the game offers some updated music and new graphics handled by Ayami Kojima.

This was my third time mixing, and also the first time doing so after actually watching others mix as reference. For this cover, I replaced some of the instruments, which caused difficulties during the mixing phase. The choice of instruments during the arrangement stage directly led to the absence of certain frequency ranges, and I wasn’t sure how to compensate for them. Another issue was that without acoustic calibration in a home recording setup, it became extremely difficult to manage.

Some nice freeriding in the piste of the Tarvisio ski resort. Unfortunately all the lower tracks were closed due to the lack of snow (you could really feel the thaw snow in the video), but had a great time up on the tops despite these conditions.

In a similar vein to 10cc's song, penned some time back, this track is also about "the things we do for love". Unlike that 70s number, this song's a bit wonky in terms of structure, which fits the track's intent too. I wasn't sure about the piano coda but it cross-faded nicely into the next track so I kept it!
