IPSJ International AI Programming Contest: SamurAI Coding 2014-15

As the Internet industry rapidly grows, there is an intensifying need for high quality engineers and programmers. Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) conducted the International AI programming Contest "SamurAI Coding" in 2012 and 2013, aiming to cultivate the younger generation so they can become leading researchers, developers and successful on global level (1st SamurAI Coding Final Photos in 2012 and 2nd Final Results in 2013).

3rd SamurAI Coding will be held between September 2014 and March 2015. Contestants will compete their engineering skills for AI game programming. Winners of the preliminary round will move on to the final round, which will be held on March 18 2015 collocated with 77th IPSJ National Convention in Kyoto at Kyoto University. Participating engineers will be able to demonstrate their skills on a global level through this contest.

We are all inundated with liberal, capitalist, imperialist, colonial, patriarchal ideas from our very birth, and they are something we have to consciously and continuously try to unlearn. This means we must submit ourselves to constant critique and self-critique in order to identify and rectify these tendencies within ourselves and others. If we do not, internal contradictions will form within our organizations that can be exploited by hostile outside forces and eventually become antagonistic enough to destroy us. This song likens the process of the internal revolution to reforging a blade, in which the blade’s imperfections are hammered out over time and it is completely transformed into a sharper, stronger weapon. If the blade is not reforged, it will eventually chip and break, much like our movements will without continuous internal transformation.

Just in time for the start of summer, I've finished the planned update to my first major original composition “Paradise”.

This composition originally emerged from a spontaneous exercise in chord progressions.

But when I found a beautiful voice synth in my extensive Titan 2 library, which, by the way, contains over 12,500 synthesizer presets for famous synth sounds from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and the more modern digital era, I gradually developed a passion for composing a few additional melodies, with the vision of creating a soundtrack that captures the otherworldly beauty of southern island paradises full of carefree spirit, relaxation, warmth, sunlight, and good cheer, all with plenty of tropical South Sea ambiance and Caribbean, Oceanic and Mediterranean flair.
