60年代後期にアメリカでビートルズに対抗してプロジェクトで立ち上げられたグループ、ザ・モンキーズ。コメディ番組と共に爆発的に人気を得たが、本人達と製作者間での方向性の違いが問題化し短命で解散した。当時は演奏能力が無いと言われていたが、デイビーとミッキーが子役出身であったが、ピーターとマイクは有能なミュージシャンであり演奏出来なかったわけではない事が今では判明している。
