In Nueva Ecija's rice fields, cobras are regular visitors. Feeding off field rats, these venomous snakes slither their way around the community, causing terror among the residents. Farmers and their families say they would rather have rats than cobras in their backyard. Just a few months ago, a resident died from a cobra bite. And when the Born to be Wild team arrived in town, a resident was taken to a local albularyo after being bitten by a cobra.This is why residents choose to hunt cobras for food or for selling. Better the cobra than their children, they say. But is the cobra a menace that seeks out humans to kill them?
