Here is a scene from the Laughing Target OVA but with tracks from The Howling score by Pino Donaggio. While the anime and manga such as Urusei Yatsura or Ranma 1/2 by Rumiko Takahashi shared a tongue-in-the-cheek approach to the sci-fi and fantasy genre with filmmaker Joe Dante of Gremlins, dark horror works like this one also shared with Dante's own horror filmmaking early in his career. The reason behind choosing Mr. Donaggio's work is because before meeting and associating with fellow composer Jerry Goldsmith in 1983, Mr. Donaggio was the original composer for Mr. Dante's R-rated horror films Piranha in 1978 and The Howling in 1981 respectively that garnered him Hollywood attention in the first place.Copyright Disclaimer under Section 107 of the copyright act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, scholarship, and research.
