Mumbai Indians (MI) secured an easy win with a strong team effort, led by Ishan Kishan's quick half-century and a fine partnership between SKY and Tilak. MI had their best powerplay performance of the season so far. KKR captain Rana departed for 5, mistiming a shot off spinner Hritik Shokeen, resulting in a war of words. Piyush Chawla struck in his first over, taking a wicket with a thick outside edge. Venkatesh Iyer counterattacked with aggressive hitting, scoring sixes and fours off various bowlers, including debutants Arjun Tendulkar and Duan Jansen. MI also created some firsts in IPL with the debut of Arjun Tendulkar, making him the first father-son duo to play in IPL, and Duan Jansen, making him part of the first set of twins to play in IPL. KKR lost their opener Jagadeesan for a duck as Green took the first wicket. The stage is set for live action with Gurbaz and Jagadeesan walking out, and Arjun Tendulkar with the new ball.
