Game contains a Story Mode and an Arcade Mode. In Story Mode, player is able to play the story of a selected character whereas Arcade Mode contains VS battles. Tag Tournament 2 brings in the 'Tag Assaults' feature from it's predecessor but they can be done simultaneously with both characters participating in the combo at the same time.Wii U Edition came with exclusive features for the Wii U:- Mushroom Battle mode: Players can pick up power-ups (which have their inspiration from the Super Mario series) during a fight.- Nintendo inspired costumes for each fighter.- Tekken Ball: Making its return from Tekken 3, this mode is a beach volleyball variant where characters are hurt by the ball.
