コナミ 悪魔城伝説 の Prelude をアレンジしました。
この制作では、ノーブル、退廃的、耽美的、サロン的、モダン、ミニマル、透明感、というようなキーワードでアレンジしていたのをよく憶えています。
公開にあたり制作したビジュアル画像もこれらのキーワードをすべて含むようイメージしています。
かつてノーブルであった素材が、退廃していく一瞬を切り取りました。美しいものと朽ちゆくものの曖昧な境界にある耽美を表現しています。
今回これを公開したのは、先日アレンジした「Calling from Heaven」がきっかけです。

Calling from Heaven の前半のアレンジをしている間ずっとこの Prelude の前半が思い出されており、頭の中を出たり入ったりしていました。コード進行など音楽理論的にはよく似ており、それぞれのメロディをある程度相互交換可能です。
Calling from Heaven がもし意図的にこのルーツを汲んで作曲されたのなら非常に興味深いことだと思います。
そんな経緯で、ずっと以前にこの Prelude のアレンジをしていたことを思い出したので、流れのまま一緒に公開することにします。
プロジェクトファイルを掘り起こしてみたところ、なんと11年前のファイルでした…！

Calling from Heaven (chamber strings) v1.0.0 ARRANGED - Castlevania: Bloodlines - Konami | バンパイアキラー
コナミ VAMPIRE KILLER の Calling from Heaven をチェンバーサイズの弦楽にアレンジしました。ヴァイオリン 1 本、ヴィオラ 1 本、チェロ 5 本（3 本は刻み、1 本はボディを叩くパーカッション）。
ひたすら耽美なヴァイオリンに続く、テンポに拘束されないルーズなチェンバロは、不安で幻覚的にも聴こえ、あるいは自己陶酔しているようにも聴こえます。
その後ヴァイオリンの秘めやかなアルペジオを経てクワイヤと合流します。
原曲のイントロを一番最後に持ってきた構成が気に入っています。
アレンジしながら、原曲が C♯m もしくは D♭m というめずらしいキーなのはどんな意図かずっと考えていました。このキーが手癖とは考えにくいため、意図がありそうです。
もちろん純粋に楽曲として C♯m が自然に思えたのでそうしたかったとか、あるいは芸術的演出として、古典調律のようにキーが楽曲の色彩や情緒に影響すると比喩的に採り入れて、嬰ハ短調にまつわるキーワードを曲に設定したのかもしれません。
あるいはハードウェアの音源都合でのレンジ調整という実用的な理由かもしれません。
もう一つ推測してみたのは、楽曲は作曲者様の作風の主軸の一つであるバロック音楽であり 415Hz チューニングが一般的に用いられていた時期の曲調であること、また作曲者様はヒーリング音楽を実践されており、どちらの文脈からも 415Hz 基準の音楽を自然なものとして捉えておられる可能性があります。
つまり 415Hz チューニングの楽器を使いつつ、一般的に弾きやすい Dm で書いたなら結果的には 440Hz 基準でいうほぼ C♯m となる、もしくはごく普通に 440Hz の Dm でバロック音楽を作曲してから最後に演出として文化背景に合わせた 415Hz チューニング相当にトランスポーズした、という理由かもしれません。
さて、「Calling from Heaven」というタイトルを皆さんはどう解釈しますか？
アレンジ制作後にネット記事など読んでいると、「天国からの叫び声」というように捉えている人が多いようでした。
他には「天国から（神から）ドラキュラ討伐を召命される、加護を受ける」なんて捉え方もできそうです。
私は最初からずっと、「天国が呼んでいる」だと捉えています。
最終ステージつまり最も困難で、死と隣合わせの極限状態、死ぬ前提のようなステージ、もう既に天国が主人公を呼んでいる、死ぬ予兆という曲名を最終ステージに付けるのは素晴らしく演出的だと捉えています。
