「昏睡」

うつらうつらとしている中、遠くで僕を呼ぶ声がする。
その声が聞こえた瞬間、決まって僕は目が覚める。

眠気をまとった重たい身体を起こし、朝日を遮る白いカーテンを開け、空を見る。
淡い青色に浮く、太陽を隠している薄い雲が、風を受け、僕の右頬に優しく触れている物に似ている。そう思う感覚を、僕はどこで拾ったのだろうか。

しばらくして喉の渇きに気づいた僕は、置いてあったコップに水を注ぎ、机に散らばった本をいくつか手前へ寄せ、椅子に座る。 軽く水を飲み、積み上げた本の表紙に目を遣るが、特に興味を惹かれるわけでもなく、隣へ下ろす。ただ、それを繰り返す。積まれていた本が少し右へ移動し終えた後、それらを片すために立ち上がり、持ち上げる。フローリングの冷たさを感じながら、木目が気に入って買った大きな本棚に、一冊ずつ仕舞っていく。

最後の一冊を本棚の向きに合わせたとき、何かが本の隙間から落ちた。
僕はそれを拾い上げる。
その何かは「眠る列車」と題された一枚の絵葉書だった。

胸の底が強く打たれるような、そんな感覚がする。

退廃した車内に巻きつく植物の、陽の光を反射する泡の、浸った肌に揺れる水面の、心地よい色が未だにぼーっとしている頭の中にはっきりと流れてくる。その感覚に共鳴するかのように、遠くで僕を呼ぶ声がする。

僕はまだ、夢から覚めぬままでいる。
