He's back! "He" referring to her (Miku's) "male" voice. I said I would use it in a solo song and I thought it worked nicely here. I wanted a stronger, more solid vocal for this track. Maybe I'll upload the version with her "female" voice. (Probably not). Either way, I should really invest in another voice (once I have the money!).

This song is pretty noisy, but that's how I wanted to make it and that's how I made it.

うちの孫（ミクさん）に歌ってもらっている今宵のリクエスト曲は、イギリスの軍歌である「僕らはジークフリート線に洗濯物を干しに行くのさ」という曲です。（英語の歌のみ翻訳監修はIFV殿です。）

作曲者であるイギリス人のMichael Carr（マイケル・カー）さんは10代でアメリカに渡ってジャーナリストとなり、ハリウッドでお仕事をされたそうな。
その後1934年にはイギリスに戻ってきて第二次世界大戦となり、イギリス軍の従軍ジャーナリストとして活躍、後、フランス軍のマジノ線に同盟軍として赴任。
この時（1939年）に作曲されたのがこの曲で、ドイツの要塞線であるジークフリートラインを叩きのめしてやるぜーって、大ヒットとなったそうな。
アメリカ帰りの影響かもしれんが、儂としてはこの曲が全然イギリスっぽくなくて最初びっくりしたぞな。（とくにコード進行。因みに、友軍の間でも歌われていたので、フランス語版もあったりします。）

さて、曲はヒットしたものの、実際はドイツ軍の強襲を受けマジノ線は突破され、最終的にイギリス・フランス連合は敗退、大陸から追い出されてしまいます。
そして、実際に歌の通りドイツのジークフリートラインに洗濯物を干しにいったのは、ノルマンディー上陸後のアメリカ軍だったのでした。

・余談＋次回予告
この歌、面白いことに、ドイツ国防軍が替え歌を作っていたりします。来週はそれを投下。

・翻訳について
Cause the washing day is here.→「何故なら洗濯の日がやって来てしまったから。」と、外から言われて行為を行う、というニュアンスだと思われるので「洗濯当番」と意訳。
Everybody's mucking in and doing their job,→の中の「mucking in」は「手伝っている」の意味で、その中のmuckは泥・汚れ・腐葉土という名詞と、泥で汚すという動詞の意味があり実はダジャレになっている。でも翻訳歌詞には反映できましぇん。
