Why the CCF is Unique?

【講演概要】As other Chinese Non-Profit Organizations, ten years ago, China Computer Federation (CCF) was also affiliated to an institute, no individual membership, no open election, no awards, no big impact activities, small number of income……The CCF started it reformation in 2004 after the national representative congress. It has more than 24000 individual members; CCF Communications (CCCF) is monthly published; China National Computer Congress (CNCC) attracts more than 3000 participants from all of the countries and foreign countries; Advanced Disciplines Lectures (ADL), a high level technical lectures, contains 10 times a year; 35 Technical Committees, 25 branches for young professionals (YOCSEF), 24 city membership chapters and 18 student chapters. In additional to this, CCF created 12 awards. The president and the board members of the society are elected by member representatives in the democratic ways and quite open. The IEEE Rebooting Computing Initiative

【講演概要】Since Turing and Von Neumann, computer designers have made a series of choice that have, for better or worse, lead us down a particular way to compute. Leveraging integrated circuit technology, the industry was able to double computer performance every 18 months. In 2005, we hit a power limit for cooling a microprocessor that stopped this historic performance scaling. This in turn led to the present Multicore Era where parallel programming is now needed to continue scaling performance. Even this era is coming to an end as Moore's law is ending. In reaction to this fundamental change in the industry, I have co-chaired (with Elie Track) an IEEE a series of invitation-only, expert summits to re-examine how to build computers: IEEE Rebooting Computing Initiative. In this talk, I will present the results of those summits and provide some hope for restarting the historic scaling of computer performance.

iモードサービスとそのコンシューマーサービスに与えた影響

【講演概要】一般に「ガラパゴス」と呼ばれる日本独自の技術発展の典型にiモードサービス及び携帯電話が上げられる．確かに2000年代前半においては，世界の中でも日本でだけ，インターネット接続携帯電話が全面普及し，多くのユーザーやコンテンツ事業者にとって新しい経済圏を作り出した．2000年代後半になって，メディアや政府がこのガラパゴス状況を是正するためと称して携帯電話事業者のビジネスモデルに介入し，2008年にスマートフォンであるiPhoneが日本に導入されたことと相まって，日本独自のガラケーは世界共通のスマホに取って代わられることになった．しかし，機能やビジネスモデルを分析してみると，現在のスマホの源流は，2000年代前半に欧米で普及していた音声中心の電話機ではなく，むしろiモード携帯機であるという皮肉な現象も見て取れる．本セッションでは，iモード，iPhone，Androidとその他の携帯電話機についての比較を行い，コンシューマーサービスのトレンドの変化とそのものづくりに与えたインパクト，そしてビジネスモデルについて解説する．

【講演概要】文部科学省は，意欲と能力ある全ての日本の若者が，海外留学に自ら一歩を踏み出す気運を醸成することを目的として，2013年10月より留学促進キャンペーン「トビタテ！留学JAPAN」を開始しました．促進キャンペーンの主な取組のひとつとして，政府だけでなく，各分野で活躍されている方々や民間企業からの御支援や御寄附などにより，「官民協働海外留学支援制度～トビタテ！留学JAPAN日本代表プログラム～」を新たに創設．日本再興戦略と産業界からの意向を踏まえ，実践的な学びを焦点に，自然科学系分野，複合・融合分野における留学や，新興国への留学，諸外国のトップレベルの大学等に留学する学生を支援することで，将来世界で活躍できるグローバル人材の育成と2020年までに大学生の海外留学12万人（現状6万人）への倍増を目指しています．

ソーシャルビッグデータの利活用・基盤技術のためのオープンテストベッドJOSE

【講演概要】ソーシャルビッグデータの利活用に必要な観測データの取得・伝送・蓄積・分析といった一連のプロセスを扱う基盤技術には，研究途上にあり，実用化に至っていないものが多い．国内でも様々な研究開発が行なわれているが，それらの技術を実用化していく上では，センサー，コンピュータ，ストレージ，ネットワークを実際に用いた実証や動作検証が必須となる．また，分析の結果，得られる状況情報が，どの程度公共の目的で実用的か等について，実際のフィールドで検証できる必要がある．しかし，上記のような実証・検証を行なう実験環境を，一般の企業や研究機関が用意することは，従来容易ではなかった．本講演では，こうした研究のための共通の実験環境を提供する大規模オープンテストベッドとして，我々が構築・運用を行なっている JOSE （Japan-wide Orchestrated Smart/Sensor Environment）について，その概要を示すとともに，具体的な実験の事例を紹介する．
